Everyone knows that a fine wine paired with a good meal can be the perfect end to any day. Relaxing with a drink on a Friday night with friends can also be an exquisite treat; but with all great things comes moderation. Some celebrity chefs take their love of alcohol to the screen and can often be seen getting drunk and raucous on television. Find out which chefs have taken it too far on-screen with this list of celebrity chefs who love to drink.
Anthony Bourdain
The cynical nature of television chef Anthony Bourdain has been both honored and criticized by many people throughout the years. Bourdain enjoys traveling and finding the weird and wonderful, all with a glass or bottle in his hand. In spite of his tv popularity, Bourdain seems to retain a deep disdain for all things cliched and touristy while bringing a dark perspective to his glamorous life of traveling and eating.
Bourdain can’t seem to keep his drinking under control in every country and has endured a few shameful, intoxicated filming adventures. From Sicily to Toronto, Bourdain enjoys his nights out on the town usually enjoying whatever the local booze of choice is. With the hazy introduction to Bourdain’s time in Thailand fueled by rice whiskey, producers seem to encourage and enjoy the chef’s wild side.
Keith Floyd
Known for his hard-drinking, chain-smoking television personality, Floyd was a British tv chef widely renowned for his drunken cooking shows. With four failed marriages and two children, Floyd embraced living life to the fullest, if not the wisest. He was widely recognized for cooking with a wine glass in one hand and inspired an entirely new breed of celebrity chefs who wanted to reveal “real life” on television.
Unfortunately for Floyd, his living habits were not the healthiest and he suffered from malnutrition, strokes, and countless other health problems before his death in 2009. Following a battle with bowel cancer, Floyd was declared all-clear in fall of 2009. Unfortunately, as he returned to his hard-drinking lifestyle, Floyd suffered a heart-attack that took his life in September of 2009.
Todd English
Celebrity chef, English has lived a long life of restauranteering and cooking. In 2014, English lost his restaurant Olives due to his partying ways and was arrested for driving under the influence. Even at 54 years old, English is still being arrested for over-indulgent partying and drinking. His attempt to drunkenly drive home on his birthday resulted in a $1,500 bail with the local PD.
Fabio Viviani
While Viviani does not necessarily get drunk on screen, he does have a lifelong love affair with wine. Growing up Italian, Viviani has long enjoyed wine before branding his own variety to sell. He became a celebrity for his chef prowess before delving into the wine-making industry.
